Chevron said a small amount of crude oil spilled into San Francisco Bay on Wednesday during maintenance work at its Richmond refinery.
The company said in a Facebook post that “less than a barrel of hydrocarbon liquid” was released into the bay Wednesday afternoon. A standard barrel of crude oil is 42 gallons, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
