RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A mudslide and flash flooding struck the Hidden Valley area of Reno on June 19, sending mud rushing down Parkway Drive and Pembroke Drive and forcing residents to shelter in place. At least one home-based business on Native Dancer Place was gutted by floodwaters, and the owner says she is now preparing to relocate.
Business devastated in minutes
Ty Bramwell, who operates Ebb & Flow — a handmade perfume, candle, plant-dye textile and skin care business — said floodwaters entered her property through a back gate and filled the rear of the property to approximately four feet within about 10 minutes. Bramwell said she had returned early from a work trip to Oregon and was home when the flooding began.
“I was going to get him,” Bramwell said, describing the moment she retrieved her cat from the backyard as the gates were forced open by rushing water. “The water came rushing down and pushed the gates open.”
Bramwell said her husband forced open a door connecting the garage to the backyard, which she said prevented the main residence from flooding. The garage, where she stored finished product, tools, and supplies, was not spared…
