ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A pattern of afternoon and evening storms is moving into north Georgia, bringing the potential for heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds and isolated street flooding through Monday.
Today’s forecast
Expect a hot day with temperatures climbing into the 90s across most of north Georgia. Like yesterday, scattered storms will be possible, and a few could produce torrential rain and gusty winds up to 40 mph. A severe storm is also possible.
First Alert Weather Days: Saturday Through Monday
The more significant threat arrives this weekend. Saturday, Sunday and Monday are designated FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS due to widespread storms expected each afternoon and evening.
Here’s what to expect:
- Heavy rain and lightning during afternoon and evening hours.
- Isolated street flooding in areas that receive the heaviest rainfall.
- Gusty winds that could knock down tree branches and cause minor damage.
Cooling trend begins Sunday
Relief from the heat arrives Sunday, as slightly cooler weather moves in. Highs will drop from the low 90s to the 80s, making conditions more comfortable — though storms will still be the main story through Monday…
