WESTBOROUGH – After 13 years as principal of Westborough High School, Brian Callaghan is leaving the district to accept a role with Shrewsbury Public Schools. After a competitive application process, the Shrewsbury School Committee voted on July 8 to appoint Callaghan as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent for Well-Being & Community Systems.
“The position, and what [Superintendent Tiffany] Ostrander is developing it into, is something very intriguing. It’s more about what [the district] wants to do moving forward with the position, building up the community and the sense of well-being and belonging in the schools, developing that partnership with the community,” Callaghan told the Community Advocate.
A Merrimack College graduate, Callaghan taught history in West Boylston, eventually coming to Westborough in 2000 to serve as the high school’s athletic director. After a stint as an assistant principal, Callaghan became the Westborough High School principal in 2013…
