More than 100 business leaders, elected officials and regional partners attended the Eugene Airport‘s July 7 Expansion Showcase, where airport officials presented the Lift Off EUG initiative, a long-term vision for expanding one of the region’s most important economic assets.
The Eugene Airport has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade, more than doubling annual passenger traffic from approximately 800,000 travelers in 2011 to 1.8 million today. That success has created a new challenge: the airport has effectively reached capacity. To meet growing demand, airport leaders introduced the Lift Off EUG expansion initiative that will modernize facilities, add gates, improve passenger experience and position the airport to serve the region for decades to come.
For the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, the proposal represents much more than an airport construction project. It reflects the kind of strategic infrastructure investment that strengthens economic competitiveness, expands workforce opportunities and supports year-round economic development throughout our region.
