Argonne Road construction causing major traffic delays in Millwood

MILLWOOD, Wash. – Drivers traveling through Millwood have been experiencing significant traffic delays after construction began on the Argonne Road Rehabilitation Project this week, with the roadway being reduced to a single lane in both directions between East Trent Avenue and East Euclid Avenue.

“This phase focuses on rehabilitating the existing road surface between Trent Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad,” city officials stated. “Work also includes updating pedestrian ramps to current ADA standards and constructing a pedestrian hybrid beacon at Buckeye to improve crossing safety.”

The pedestrian hybrid beacon is a device that will appear like a standard traffic light signal, however, the lights will only be activated when pedestrians press the button before attempting to cross Argonne Road at the East Buckeye Avenue intersection on foot. The rest of the time, when no pedestrians are attempting to cross the roads, the lights will remain dark and drivers can proceed as usual along Argonne…
