Former AACO police officer sentenced in insurance fraud scheme involving fake car thefts

GREENBELT, Md. (WBFF) — A former Anne Arundel County police officer has been sentenced for his role in an insurance fraud scheme that involved staging vehicle thefts and filing false police reports to collect insurance payouts.

32-year-old Jaron Taylor, of Fort Washington, was sentenced to three years of probation after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

As part of the sentence, Taylor must serve the first five months on home detention and pay $38,670 in restitution to the United Services Automobile Association (USAA)…
