City of Akron, local organization announce first-ever Litter Letter Project

AKRON, Ohio — A new public art initiative in Akron is encouraging residents to take pride in their neighborhoods.

Akron and Keep Akron Beautiful announced the first-ever Litter Letter Project on Thursday. Large-scale letters constructed from chicken wire will be filled with litter collected from the city’s streets.

“The Litter Letter Project is a creative reminder that every one of us has a role to play in keeping Akron clean,” said Mayor Shammas Malik. “Something as simple as picking up litter, properly disposing of trash, or volunteering at a neighborhood cleanup helps create a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful city. We hope this installation inspires people to take pride in their community and recognize that small actions can make a lasting difference.”…
