A battery explosion at a commercial manufacturing facility in Scio Township led to a man being injured and firefighters responding to a structure fire.
Scio Twp. Fire Chief Andrew Houde said in a statement about this incident the Scio Township Fire Department was dispatched at 1:31 on the afternoon of July 8, to a reported structure fire on Interface Drive. Houde said dispatch information indicated that a lithium polymer battery had “exploded on a production line and was on fire.”
“Firefighters arrived on scene and found light smoke and the fire sprinkler system activated in a commercial manufacturing facility,” Houde said. “The fire was contained to a single workstation.”…
