LOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A mother is facing multiple felony charges months after police say she crashed her car while high on meth and other drugs, killing her 19-month-old daughter.
Lansing resident Krystal Carranco, 41, is facing charges of operating while intoxicated causing death, possession of methamphetamine and second-degree child abuse related to the April 29 crash that killed her daughter, Aurelya Carranco. She faces up to 15 years behind bars if found guilty of OWI causing death.

State police say Carranco was driving “erratically” at a “high rate of speed” on westbound I-96 near Lowell Township when she crossed the median, left the roadway and crashed into a group of trees.
