A Houston man that reportedly told law enforcement he was a sovereign citizen before speeding off was sentenced to 25 years this week.
Roderic Demond James, 25, was convicted of felony evading arrest or detention by a jury in the 163rd District Court of Orange County July 7.
On Jan. 11 at 11:15 p.m., while patrolling I-10 eastbound, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Rios observed a vehicle speeding and swerving through lanes of traffic. The trooper stopped the vehicle and the driver allegedly refused to identify himself claiming he was a sovereign citizen and was not required to have a license or to show identification.
