ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage Animal Care and Control has a loaner program for dogs. The Tails on Trails program, which started last summer, allows people to check a dog out of the shelter for a few hours or even overnight.
”I know the shelter can be a really stressful environment, especially when you have 60 dogs barking their heads off,” said Animal Control’s Community Outreach Manager Joel Jorgensen. “It’s nice to be able to give them a vacation, go hiking, go watch a movie at someone’s house, go camping down in Seward, pretty much anything to give the dog a break from the shelter life.”
Jorgensen said the process is easy for anyone interested in participating in the program…
