John Davis, Sr. was born in 1759 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to James and Sarah Jansen Van Meter Davis
John married Mary (known as “Polly”) Taylor, sister of patriot James Taylor who is interred at Centenary Baptist Church Cemetery.
On Aug. 8, 1832, a 73-year-old John Davis testified in Maryville Court for his Revolutionary War pension.
