After Wednesday’s lunch rush at Triangle Bar & Grill, owner Tom Crombie gathered the staff to discuss the Commercial Street Bridge closure. The nearly 92-year-old Swissvale sandwich shop — home of the famed Battleship sub — doesn’t typically offer specials, but it’s considering it in case business slows.
The planned 25-day closure, part of the Commercial Street Bridge replacement project that began Friday night, has shut down the Parkway East (I-376) in both directions between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and Swissvale interchange, half a mile away from Triangle.
“I’ve never seen anything like this in my lifetime,” said Crombie, 60, a lifelong Swissvale resident. “I’m pretty sure it’s going to affect us in some way, shape or form.”…
