‘She’s my screensaver’: Castle Rock resident remembers mother bear after shooting

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) — A Castle Rock homeowner said a mother bear and her two cubs became part of his daily life after he and his wife moved to Colorado from Chicago four years ago.

Jeff Berta said seeing wildlife was one of the reasons they made the move.

“It’s one of the reasons we moved here. Around here, you get the elk, the deer, the bobcats and of course the bears,” he said.

Berta said he watched the mother bear and her cubs move through the open space near his home for months and felt a connection to them…
