Corrections officer hospitalized after alleged assault inside Niagara County jail

BUFFALO, N.Y. — An man being held at the Niagara County Correctional Facility is facing charges after he allegedly struck a corrections officer.

The incident occurred Friday during a cleaning detail inside the facility when Myquaveon Jones allegedly struck a corrections officer in the face with a closed fist. The officer was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a statement Friday night.

Jones has been charged with second-degree assault. He is scheduled to appear in Niagara County Court on Saturday…
