MILLBROOK, Ala. (WSFA) – A juvenile is dead after drowning at Jackson Lake Island in Millbrook Saturday morning, according to the Millbrook Police Department.
Millbrook police and fire rescue units responded around 11:14 a.m. to a report of a possible drowning. Officers were told several people were swimming when the victim, who was standing in chest-deep water, stepped off a drop-off and did not resurface. Witnesses said someone immediately called 911.
The Millbrook Fire Department dive team later found the victim’s body after searching the immediate area. Witnesses said he did not know how to swim.
Officials said no foul play is suspected at this time.
