GRIMES, Iowa — Authorities are investigating after a fire sparked at a home near Grimes Friday night, prompting a partial closure of Highway 141.
The Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District says their crews were dispatched to a home in the 8200 block of NW 114th Street at roughly 9:05 p.m. Friday for a structure fire.
At the scene, fire crews found heavy flames which had engulfed the exterior deck and were extending to the second-floor exterior and into the attic space. With assistance from the Urbandale Fire Department, firefighters initiated an aggressive attack and were able to extinguish the flames…
