First Alert Weather: Off and on showers, storms Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Good morning and happy Sunday!

I want to give you a First Alert to hold on to an umbrella today. We have a stalled front across the Southeast that will help enhance our chances to see rain and storms over the next three days.

We are starting out the morning with low-to-mid-70s with a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Scattered showers and storms are developing this morning and pushing to the east. Plan for off and on showers and storms at any point during the day.

We will likely remain partly sunny to mostly cloudy this afternoon with highs in the upper 80s. Winds will likely come from the west-southwest at five to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

The Storm Prediction Center has a Marginal Risk – threat level one out of five – for all of central Alabama today. If we see a strong or severe storm, the main threat will be damaging winds gusting up to 60 mph. The severe threat remains very low today. Most of us will see pockets of heavy rainfall, gusty winds up to 30 mph and some lightning. Rain and storms will likely push to the east-southeast…
