Governor Moore announces $5 million in FY27 Maryland Heritage Grant Awards to promote local economic development

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Gov. Wes Moore announced this week that the state has awarded $5 million in matching grants to 58 nonprofits, local jurisdictions, and tourism groups to boost economic development through cultural preservation.

The funding, distributed through the Maryland Heritage Areas Program, will support place-based tourism and sustainability initiatives across Maryland’s 13 state-certified heritage areas. The recipient organizations include museums, parks, arts organizations, historic sites, and schools.
