SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Drivers traveling through the South Bay should prepare for an overnight closure of southbound Interstate 5 Monday as Caltrans crews remove overhead freeway signs.

According to Caltrans, all lanes of southbound I-5 will be closed after the State Route 54 connector from 10 p.m. Monday, July 13, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 14.
Motorists heading south will be detoured onto eastbound SR-54, then to southbound Interstate 805 before connecting to eastbound State Route 905 to return to I-5.

Caltrans said portable electronic message signs will be posted in advance of the closure to alert drivers and provide alternate route information.
