OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha Police have identified the man killed in an alleged shootout with officers on Saturday evening in the Aksarben area and released an image from the incident.
In a news release Sunday night, OPD identified the man as 44-year-old David A. Asbury Jr. and offered condolences to his family.
In the update, Omaha Police reiterated reports provided on Saturday, confirming that officers were called to a home in the area of 55th and Pine streets at to check on the well-being of a suicidal person following a 911 call made by a concerned citizen. Three uniformed officers approached the home at 5:50 p.m. to knock on the door and make contact, according to the report, but were fired upon after doing so.
