(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Monday is starting off cloudy, damp, and much cooler across the Charlotte metro with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Areas of light and heavy rain are moving through the region early this Monday morning, and humidity remains high with pockets of fog and reduced visibility in some locations. It’s a dramatic change from the intense heat we experienced over the holiday weekend, and the cooler air is immediately noticeable as you head out the door.

Showers and thunderstorms will remain likely through much of the day, with rain becoming more widespread Monday afternoon and evening. High temperatures will struggle to climb out of the upper 70s across the metro, nearly 20 degrees cooler than what we saw just a few days ago. Periods of moderate to heavy rain will be possible at times, along with occasional lightning. While no widespread warnings are currently in effect, localized ponding on roads and reduced visibility could create travel impacts during heavier downpours…
