The Town Council is taking up a change in sewer billing – from twice a year to four times a year – and considering elimination of the deduct water meter program at its meeting Monday, July 13. Town officials are arguing that both changes will improve efficiency, but some with deduct meters are crying foul, saying they will be taxed for water they don’t use.
Residents who have typically installed deduct meters are looking to save money on their sewer use bill because they have outdoor irrigation systems (aka sprinklers). Sewer use is based on water usage but if the water is used outdoors, it won’t go into the sewer system. A deduct meter tracks outdoor water usage so it can be “deducted” from the sewer bill…
