Extreme heat and humidity returns to Southern New England this week

As a heat dome overspreads much of the U.S., extreme heat and humidity will return to Southern New England this week.

Monday won’t be too hot or humid, with high temperatures in the mid-80s and dew points in the mid-60s.

The worst of the heat will be felt on Tuesday and Wednesday as high temperatures soar into the mid-90s with heat indices near or above 100 degrees in the afternoon.

Overnight low temperatures won’t give people much of an opportunity to cool down, with lows in the 70s Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

As we’ve done quite a bit so far this summer, it will be time to seek the air conditioning, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday looks like the hottest day.

Humidity levels drop on Thursday even as high temperatures stay in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.

More relief from the heat arrives for the end of the week into the weekend with highs back into the mid-80s.

Rain chances stay low through most of the week, with our next chance for showers and storms not arriving until later in the weekend, and that’s not set in stone at this point…
