NEW YORK (WWTI) – Summer EBT benefits are now being distributed to eligible families in New York, providing up to $120 per child to assist with grocery expenses during the summer months.
This federal program, in its third year, is set to allocate approximately $240 million in benefits to 2 million children statewide. The initiative addresses ongoing hunger issues, especially after over 100,000 New Yorkers lost federal food assistance due to cuts in the SNAP program. A recent No Kid Hungry poll indicated that three-quarters of families in New York have had to choose between food and other essential costs as food prices continue to rise.
