The Mercadel family’s 40th annual reunion at City Park was disrupted by sudden flooding, but attendees persevered and continued the celebration despite the challenges.
Chad Leufroy, a relative attending the reunion, said it rains every year, but did not anticipate the severe flooding that would soon follow.
Leufroy described the sudden onset of flooding, saying, “Well, I went out there, it wasn’t raining, everybody was having a good time,” Leufroy said, “And then, just like, out of nowhere, complete floods everywhere.”…
