The 1.55-acre site is reportedly located at 130 Ontario Street, 134 West Street and 154 West Street. According to DEC, the northern portion of the property was used as a lumber yard from the late-19th century through the mid-20th century and the southern portion was used for lumber storage from about 1934 to 1950.

The site later housed various outreach services and help centers until about 2017. A vacant building and a vacant asphalt parking lot now sit at the location, as well as unimproved land, DEC said.

Previous investigations have reportedly detected petroleum and chlorinated solvents in the site’s groundwater and soil gas, as well as volatile organic compounds, semi-volatile organic compounds and metals. Future investigative work would further examine the nature and extent of contamination at the property, according to DEC.
