Scott Bryce, the acclaimed actor best known for his role as Craig Montgomery on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, has passed away at the age of 68.

The news of Bryce’s death surfaced on the evening of July 12, following a heartfelt Facebook tribute from his longtime friend and former co-star Lucie Arnaz, which has since been removed. Arnaz’s tribute highlighted the deep impact Bryce had on those around him. She described him as “a wonderful actor, a beautiful man, and a terrific husband and father,” sharing how much she would miss his presence, wit, and warmth.

Bryce had been battling Stage 3 esophageal and stomach cancer since his diagnosis in 2025. While initially optimistic and sharing positive updates on his recovery, it was later revealed by Arnaz that the cancer had unfortunately returned.

Coming from a family with strong ties to daytime television-his father Ed Bryce was a longtime cast member on Guiding Light-Scott carved out his own legacy in the soap opera world. His portrayal of Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns became his signature role, spanning multiple periods between 1982 and 2008.

Early in his tenure, he acted alongside Meg Ryan, who played Betsy Stewart. Following his departure from the show in 2008, other actors continued the role of Craig, but Bryce’s portrayal remains memorable to fans.

Beyond the soap opera stage, Bryce enjoyed a diverse television career, making guest appearances and recurring roles on a wide range of well-known shows including Murphy Brown, ER, Law & Order, Sex and the City, Blue Bloods, The Blacklist, Homeland, and 30 Rock.

Scott Bryce is survived by his wife, actress Jodi Stevens, and their son, Jackson. His passing marks the loss of a beloved figure in daytime television and beyond, remembered for his talent, kindness, and dedication both on and off the screen.
