1-day-old puppies abandoned during ‘pouring rain’ in Gaston County, officials say

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – Seven one-day-old puppies were abandoned in Gaston County during “pouring rain” Monday, officials said.

Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement said the pups were left in a box in the bushes near a veterinary facility in Cherryville on July 13.

Officials said a man walked into the facility around 10:10 a.m. Monday, and asked if the clinic could take in the puppies. Staff told him they weren’t equipped, certified or legally allowed to act as a boarding facility for them.

The man then reportedly left the building and dropped the box of puppies in bushes outside the facility “in the pouring rain.”…
