Polk County court expanding to better serve growing population

BARTOW, Fla. — Polk County court is expanding to keep up with the area’s growing needs.

Chief Judge James Yancey recently established an additional family division in Florida’s 10th Judicial Circuit, which includes Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties. That brings the total number of family divisions to six.

The new administrative order will help manage the growing caseload. Clerk of Courts and Comptroller Stacy Butterfield says the number of court filings continues to rise as the county experiences rapid population growth…
