Argument over 50-cent surcharge for cigar at Nashville smoke shop ends in alleged assault, arrest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A smoke shop clerk is pressing charges against a woman who allegedly assaulted him and tried to swipe money from the register because of an additional charge on the cigar she bought.

The alleged incident occurred at Vape Zone on Donelson Pike on Sunday, July 12.

An arrest affidavit states that 28-year-old Brianna Groves purchased a “packaged cigar” and became upset because the store added a 50-cent charge on top of it because the minimum purchase amount for a card transaction was not met. Groves became irate, the affidavit says, and allegedly threw her cigar back over the counter…
