‘My father was murdered for sport,’ man sentenced to 45 years for Pinellas County manslaughter, carjacking cases

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pinellas County judge sentenced Savonne Morrison to 45 years in prison. In March, Morrison was found guilty of manslaughter in the fatal tire-iron beating of another man back in 2022.

49-year-old Jeffrey Chapman was beaten to death with a tire iron when, according to prosecutors, Morrison and another man were on a crime spree, smashing windows and robbing people.
