CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – King tides are expected to cause potential flooding in Carolina Beach this week due to the upcoming new moon and lunar perigee.
According to town officials, flood risks will be elevated from Sunday, July 12, through Thursday, July 16. Commonly flooded areas include Canal Drive, Florida Avenue, Carolina Beach Avenue North and other low-lying areas.
“Town officials may close roads due to flooding,” town officials said in a Facebook post. “Please use caution and obey traffic signs and barriers. Avoid walking or driving in flooded areas; salt water can be detrimental to your vehicle and could contain debris.”…
