OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A 38-acre campus in southwest Omaha is home to a Christian church, a mosque and a synagogue — all operating on the same shared grounds as part of the Tri-Faith Initiative.
A bridge over ‘Hell’s Creek’
A creek runs through the property, separating the three buildings. It is known as Hell’s Creek, and a bridge spanning it has been named Abraham’s Bridge.
“One of the interesting things on our shared campus is there’s a creek that separates our buildings,” said Rabbi Benjamin Sharff of the Tri-Faith Initiative. “That creek is called Hell’s Creek, and yet we built a bridge over it called Abraham’s Bridge. So the only way to pass through hell, at least metaphorically speaking, is to walk on a bridge together.”
Sharff said the proximity of the three congregations creates both friction and opportunity…
