With no established senior center in Berthoud, Golden Links remains one of the few opportunities for seniors to gather, socialize, and experience the world together. Golden Links is a local senior group that meets every Thursday at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary at New Freedom Outreach Center.
The group started meeting several years back with about six members total. Today, it has grown to include over 30 of Berthoud’s senior residents. Nancy Webber, program director for Golden Links, takes great pride in this group. It serves as a way for local seniors to get out of the house once a week, meet with new friends and old acquaintances, talk and enjoy a hot cup of coffee.
A couple of times a month, Webber organizes a speaker to give a 15-to 20-minute presentation. “The ladies don’t want people to talk more than 20 minutes,” Webber said with a laugh. “When [the speaker] sees me looking at my watch, it means I’m getting ready to tell you your 20 minutes is up.”…
