The proposed ordinance will be discussed during a town council workshop Tuesday evening.
Under the town’s current policy, residents may address council during regular meetings on any topic except personnel matters, as long as they notify the town clerk any time before the meeting begins.
The proposed ordinance would instead require anyone wishing to speak to notify the town clerk at least five days before the meeting. The ordinace says, “To ensure the orderly conduct of public business, any individual desiring to speak before the Town Council must formally notify the Town Clerk of their intended topic no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday immediately preceding the scheduled regular meeting.”…
