Kansas City the latest in metro to address e-bike rules, requirements

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – City leaders will consider if they need to update the city’s code when it comes to e-bikes. It’s a conversation cities across the metro are faced with as the options become more popular.

A proposal is expected to be discussed during a city council committee meeting on July 14.

If the plan is eventually approved it would clarify what qualifies as an e-bike, the different types that can legally operate in the city, and other safety standards. It would also address where people would be allowed to legally ride e-bikes…
