The Supervisor of Cheektowaga, New York has proposed a new law to help tenants in the Town of Cheektowaga called the “Good Cause Eviction” making it harder for landlords to evict tenants.
The point is that a landlord cannot just evict someone from their house when their contract is up–a point that is being heavily disputed in Cheektowaga. Some homeowners and landlords are arguing that if they pay the town taxes and pay the mortgage that they should have the right to do what they want to within reason.
No landlord though wants to just get rid of a good tenant, though so there must be a reason that a landlord wants to evict. That being said, there ARE still very reasonable reasons that a landlord can evict tenants that are living in their home.…
