Homeless man charged with raping 15-year-old girl

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives are seeking charges against a 25-year-old homeless man for the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police documents show.

CMPD obtained warrants against Tydarereous Naquan Graham for statutory rape of a child under 15, indecent liberties with a child, assault by strangulation, assault on a female and crime of domestic violence. According to an affidavit, Graham is considered a danger to himself and others, with officers citing a comment from Graham saying he’d rather get into a shootout with police than go to jail.

CMPD responded to a reported assault on July 8, according to the affidavit. When officers arrived, they spoke with a 15-yearold girl who said she’d been in a sexual relationship with Graham for several weeks. The victim told officers that Graham punched her in the head multiple times and strangled her to the point that she couldn’t breathe.
