A Jacksonville officer was arrested for battery Tuesday afternoon after the sheriff said he struck a man who he placed under arrest.
Shane Saydek, 43, is facing a misdemeanor charge of battery, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters announced during a news conference on Tuesday.

Saydek had Kaashif Griffin, 43, in custody for possession of an open container in a vehicle and resisting an officer early Monday morning, Waters said.
