Mayor highlights reopening of renovated Ujima Neighborhood Place

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg used his weekly press briefing Tuesday to mark the reopening of the newly renovated Ujima Neighborhood Place, calling Neighborhood Place locations a key resource for families across the city.

Neighborhood Place sites combine city, state and community services in one location, offering help with needs such as health care enrollment assistance, rent and utility financial assistance, food assistance and child care resources, among other services. Louisville has eight Neighborhood Place locations:

  • Cane Run Neighborhood Place, 3410 Lees Lane, 40216
  • Charmoli Center Neighborhood Place, 9100 Marksfield Road, Suite 100, 40222
  • First Neighborhood Place, 1503 Rangeland Road, 40219
  • Northwest Neighborhood Place, 4018 W Market Street, 40212
  • South Central Neighborhood Place, 4255 Hazelwood Avenue, 40215
  • South Jefferson Neighborhood Place, 1000 Neighborhood Place, Fairdale, KY 40118
  • Ujima Neighborhood Place, 3610 Bohne Avenue, 40211

City leaders said the Ujima Neighborhood Place renovation was funded through a $450,000 allocation of Community Development Block Grant money included in the FY25 Louisville Metro budget. The upgrades include a new reception area, updated technology, enhanced security features and ADA-accessible doors.

The reopening comes as residents face rising living costs and policy changes at the state and federal levels, officials said. The mayor’s office said recent Medicaid changes have resulted in more than 50,000 adults and 10,000 children in Jefferson County losing health coverage…
