BALTIMORE, Md. — Thick haze from Canadian wildfires is blanketing Maryland skies, prompting state environmental officials to issue a Code Orange air quality alert for Wednesday.
The Maryland Department of the Environment warns that the incoming wildfire smoke, combined with soaring summer temperatures, is expected to cause poor air quality across the state for the remainder of the week.
The Code Orange forecast covers the Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas, as well as the Eastern Shore.
