LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — A newly renovated space inside Norton Children’s Hospital is now open, designed to give families a safe, comforting place to rest and recharge while their child is being treated for cancer.
Hospital leaders dedicated the reimagined David & Carol Tinkle Family Room on Tuesday. The family room is located inside the hospital’s 7W cancer unit and is intended to be a place where patients, families and caregivers can gather, take a break and support one another.
Norton Children’s Hospital CAO Diane Scardino said the space helps families stay close to their child while still having “a space that is soothing… quiet… [with] a lot of serenity,” so they can step away briefly without feeling too far away…
