Louisville food pantry asks people to help as it struggles to meet growing demand for food

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A food pantry in Louisville’s Shelby Park neighborhood is struggling to keep up with growing demand, according to volunteers at Saint Vincent de Paul.

The organization has operated the pantry for six years. Volunteers say demand is now at an all-time high.

Demand up 58% compared to last year

Last month, the pantry served an average of 152 households each day it was open — a 58 percent increase compared to June 2025.
