Kitchen 216 originally opened on Lark Street in Albany before moving to Central Avenue. In 2023, the restaurant moved into Crossgates Commons in Guilderland. In April, owner Emrys Young said the restaurant would be temporarily closing.
Young told NEWS10 that their lease in Crossgates Commons was up in October. She also wanted to have a full-service, sit-down restaurant, which she is able to have at the Troy location.
“Turning a profit is really difficult in this day and age in the restaurant business,” said Young. “We want to be around for a long time. Moving in the direction of a full-service restaurant, where people can sit down, eat and enjoy a drink if they choose, is the platform that our food deserves.”
