Sam Neills Cause of Death Revealed After Cancer Battle

Additional Coverage:

Sam Neill, renowned for his iconic role as Dr. Alan Grant in the “Jurassic Park” series, has passed away at the age of 78. According to his representative, Philip Grenz, Neill died from pneumonia, despite being in remission from stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

Prior to his passing, Neill had bravely battled lymphoma and achieved remission through an innovative treatment known as CAR-T therapy. Grenz emphasized that some recent media reports contained inaccuracies and false information regarding the circumstances of Neill’s death.

The statement follows remarks made by journalist Laura Tingle, who had a past relationship with Neill. In an interview, she described the actor as “pretty sick” in his final weeks and noted that his immune system had been weakened after years of fighting cancer.

Honoring Neill’s preference for privacy, his family plans to hold a private memorial at his farm in New Zealand at a later date. Grenz expressed gratitude to those close to Neill for respecting the family’s need for discretion during this difficult time.

Neill had announced he was cancer-free in April after completing a clinical trial in Australia. Diagnosed in 2022, he underwent CAR-T cell therapy to treat his rare blood cancer. His family shared news of his “sudden and unexpected” death on Instagram, confirming that he remained cancer-free and thanking hospital staff for their exceptional care.

Sam Neill passed away on July 13 in Sydney. Beyond “Jurassic Park,” his distinguished career included memorable performances in films like “The Hunt for Red October,” “The Piano,” “Event Horizon,” “The Horse Whisperer,” and “Bicentennial Man.” On television, he earned acclaim for roles in “Reilly, Ace of Spies,” “Merlin,” “The Tudors,” and notably as detective Chester Campbell in “Peaky Blinders.”

Neill’s legacy as a versatile and beloved actor will endure, as fans and colleagues alike mourn the loss of a remarkable talent.
