PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Neighbors near Tradition lost a fight this week to keep a chunk of land residential, as Port St. Lucie’s City Council voted unanimously to let a developer swap nearly 10 acres of planned townhomes for retail and office space.
The vote clears out land near Crosstown Parkway and Fairgreen Road that was once slated for 106 homes, putting commercial development just steps from an existing neighborhood.
While no specific tenants have been announced, the applicant’s own planning documents sketch out a couple of likely scenarios: a retail strip plaza, or a mix of a fast-food restaurant with a drive-thru, small shops, and a convenience store…
