Warning sirens activated in some Central Texas counties, others awaiting plans

AUSTIN (KXAN) — With heavy rain blanketing much of the Hill Country, and a Flood Watch in effect for Central Texas, some areas are activating outdoor warning sirens to alert residents — while others still draw up plans needed for eventual funding and installation.

On Tuesday, Gov. Abbott issued a disaster declaration for 59 counties. To survey the use of sirens, KXAN Investigates reached out to more than 20 counties or cities across Central Texas.
