Tom & Jerry’s owner in talks to take over Rockford-area Beef-a-Roos

ROCKFORD — The owner of Tom & Jerry’s is in negotiations to take over eight shuttered Rockford-area Beef-a-Roo locations and reopen the restaurants.

Bob Grottke, who owns four Tom & Jerry’s restaurants in the area, said he is in talks with corporate Beef-a-Roo ownership, building owners and food vendors to restart the restaurants in Rockford, Loves Park, Machesney Park and Roscoe. All eight locations were closed by July 2, then a companywide layoff happened the following week affecting Beef-a-Roo locations across the country…
